Our Activities

  • We conduct free legal lessons through The Voice of Livingstonia Radio from 5:30 pm to 6:00 pm every Sunday.
  • We conduct civic education on the Laws of Malawi using drama, poetry music through the youth in public places.
  • We carry out workshops in the prisons to educate the inmates on the bail, appeals processes and procedures in court.
  • We offer free legal services to poor, vulnerable Malawians.

Our Goals

  • Enlighten people on the laws of Malawi through drama, plays, posters, video clips, Internet resources, songs and other means in order to promote knowledge and a colloquial understanding of the laws of Malawi.
  • Enable poor Malawians to aptly represent themselves in basic legal procedures without relying on the costly services of a lawyer.
  • Offer free legal services to poor Malawians, particularly to vulnerable groups (widows, children, persons with disabilities and the elderly).
  • Orient judicial officers, state agents and other stakeholders to ensure that the Laws of Malawi are pronounced, interpreted and implemented in ways that are reliable and understandable to the average layperson.
  • Translate Malawi’s law from English to local languages (Chichewa, Tumbuka, Lambia etc.)
  • Create basic law libraries where people can readily access both hard and soft copies of the laws of Malawi.

Our Values

We believe that public education is the foundation of social responsibility. Consequently, knowledge of the law is instrumental for the Malawian public to take responsibility regarding the injustices carried out across the country. With the requisite knowledge, a relationship of mutual understanding between Malawians and Malawi’s justice system can be built and sustained; a relationship where Malawians respect the justice system and the arms of the justice system respect the rights of Malawians.
